Day 1: Manaus (Amazon)

Arrive to Manaus, the capital of Amazon. At the airport you will be greeted by your private driver who will take you to the most luxurious hotel in the Amazon region, the Tropical Manaus. Built on the shores of Rio Negro, the Tropical Manaus provides luxury accommodations set against the backdrop of the beauty of the Amazon Forest. Take the afternoon to explore the beautiful amenities and terrains of the hotel, and enjoy the spectacular views of Rio Negro.

Day 2: Amazon Adventure

After a delicious breakfast you will embark on a three-hour journey through the Amazon jungle to the Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge, described as one of the most authentic and unique hotels in Brazil by National Geographic Traveler “2011 Stay List”. With only 16 suites in the entire lodge, this is a once in lifetime stay in the heart of the Amazon Forest.

Set at the edge of Negro River, in the area of 886 acres of untouched rainforest, Anavilhanas Jungle Lodge is the only Hotel in Northern Brazil to be part of the Brazilian Hotels of Charm Association, following the principles of low-impact intervention to conduct tourism activities responsibly and in harmony with the local community. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a delicious local cocktail and given a tour of the grounds while on your way to your exclusive bungalow suite.
Once you have had time to settle in, you will be treated to a lunch that includes regional and international cuisine with various Amazon ingredients and the freshest regional tropical fruits and fish. You will then set off on a three-hour Anavilhanas Islands tour. After dinner, another adventure is waiting for you. You will head out by canoe to listen to sounds of the nature, and explore the riverbanks in search of caymans. Boating through the forest under the Amazon night sky is quite an experience, but nothing prepares you for the sight of cayman’s eyes lighting up in the beam of the spotlight!

Day 3: Amazon Adventure

After enjoying a breakfast, serenaded by the sounds of Amazon birds, today’s adventures begin with a forest hike in the largest tropical rainforest in the world. Biodiversity of the Amazon is striking, and you will have an experienced native guide to help point out for you unusual trees, wild fruits, and plants. Embark next on a trip by boat to visit the Amazonian Pink River Dolphins. These fascinating creatures have survived unharmed for centuries because of the local belief that the dolphins have magical powers. Ranging in various shades of beautiful pink, these are photos you will definitely want to share with loved ones when you return home. Following a visit to local handicraft studios, return to your hotel right in time for another wonderful dinner.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 4: Amazon Adventure

This is a unique morning as your day will start before the sun is even up. You will leave the lodge shortly before dawn and head to a lake where you will witness the awakening of the tropical birds and take in the magical sight of an Amazon sunrise. After breakfast, you will travel in wooden canoes for a fishing expedition like no other. The catch of the day? Piranha. Considered to be one of the most feared freshwater fish in the world, piranhas are known to have incredible appetites, extremely sharp teeth, and travel in enormous packs. Later that afternoon you will visit an isolated Tiririca community to observe their lifestyle, social structure and customs.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Day 5: Amazon Adventure

A ride in regional canoes through the Amazonian creeks and flood forest starts the tenth day of your adventure. Explore the wild beauty of riverbanks, and enjoy the serenity of the scenery. After an enjoyable lunch, take some time to relax in your suite and look back through the images of your Brazilian journey to date. Then head out for a Bow and Arrow Practice with real Waimiri-Atroari Indian’s Weapons, where local instructors will reveal to you skills and materials used to make bows and arrows, as well as share with you handling techniques and invite you to put to use your new archery skills.

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
